About
I’m Rhys Brett-Bowen. I’ve written front-end software for two decades. Now I’m writing about what changes when the machine does some of it.
This started when AI got useful. Once I was coding with it past autocomplete, we got further together than I would have alone. It couldn’t have got there on its own either.
That made me curious. Could it replace not just a software engineer, but me? Could I make it better than me?
So I set out to test it: first to write better code, then better prose, then to understand and critique code. That last one became a code reviewer, built by distilling everything I’d learned into rules.
These posts are the receipts of what I learned along the way, written with AI and cross-referenced against experiments and research. A lot of it comes from running that reviewer on real pull requests: what it catches, what it misses, and which of its answers survive a look at the source. Often they don’t.
